VICTORIA – The Legend rides on and he’s riding back… to Canada! That’s right. Country music icon, George Jones, is coming back to the True North Strong and Free, for a coast-to-coast 30-city tour.

“I’m glad we’re coming back. We could have played to a lot more fans on the last tour but we just didn’t have time in our schedule then,” states Jones. “Anytime you find people that are happy to come out and see you, you just have to show!”

A successful 17-city tour of Canada in 2003 saw fans came in droves, and Jones played to sellout venues. “I love Canada – those people really love country music,” enthuses Jones. “I had such a good time on our last tour – the crowds were great and it made me feel like a hot, young hunk!” Jones is returning with twice as many dates and a very special guest: Canadian entertainer, Ronnie Prophet.

Whether the times have favored honky tonk songs or lushly produced ‘pop’ offerings, country legend Jones has continued to make his brand of country music, which has produced hits in every decade of the second half of the 20th century. In fact, Jones has had more charted singles than any other artist in any format of popular music. This year marks his 50th anniversary as a recording artist and Bandit records is celebrating this auspicious landmark the release of GEORGE JONES – 50 YEARS OF HITS, a 3-CD set in stores now. “ It’s hard to believe that it’s been 50 years. I have to admit I’m a bit shocked by it all.”

Jones, at 73, continues to headline more that one hundred concerts a year. He is already working on his next studio album, which will be “songs I wished I had recorded.” ‘The Possum’ is at a great place in his life and loving every minute of it.

RONNIE PROPHET
Dubbed by his peers as the “Entertainer’s Entertainer”, Canadian sensation Ronnie Prophet lives up to the accolades with his unique stylization of songs, guitar instrumentals, and electronic sound wizardry. He has recorded thirty-two albums and has twenty-seven chart records to his credit. Ronnie is acknowledged as one of the biggest names in Canadian country music, winning numerous awards and hosting and starring in over a dozen television specials. A showman capable of satisfying any type of audience, he has performed on tour with the likes of Danny Thomas, Kenny Rogers, Perry Como, Dolly Parton and others.
