Cher released her eagerly anticipated new album Living Proof on November 19th 2003, featuring the stunning first single, ‘The Music’s No Good Without You’. It’s the first new music from Cher since she set the world alight three years ago with the classic ‘Believe’, a single that was a worldwide No.1 smash. The single earned Cher three Grammy nominations in 1999 and is still the biggest selling single by a female artist in the UK ever. Without doubt, Cher is a living legend. Quite simply, she is one of the world’s most successful female entertainment stars. Ever. She has stamped her totally unique identity on the world at large as an acclaimed singer, award winning actress and director.

Cher was born Cherilyn Sarkisian in El Centro, California. As a teenager, Cher met Sonny Bono at a Hollywood Boulevard coffee shop. One day she tagged along with Sonny to Phil Spector’s Gold Star Studios and filled in for a singer who did not show. From this point onwards, Cher sang back-up for Phil Spector on all his classic songs from ‘Be My Baby’ to ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling’. Following a modest start as Caesar and Cleo, the duo finally clicked as Sonny and Cher, recording the first of several hits in 1965 including their first international smash hit ‘I Got You Babe’. At one time, Sonny and Cher had five songs in the US top 20, a feat previously accomplished only by the Beatles and Elvis Presley.

Cher received the Best Actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival for ‘Mask’ in 1985 but it was ‘Moonstruck’ that brought her the Golden Globe and Oscar for Best Actress. In the same year Cher returned to her singing roots with the smash hit ‘I Found Someone’. In 1989 she released the album Heart of Stone, which featured the classic hits ‘Just Like Jesse James’ and ‘If Could Turn Back Time’. She topped the singles chart with ‘The Shoop Shoop Song’ in 1990 taken from the movie ‘Mermaids’. In 1995 Cher released the hit album It’s A Man’s World, which included the hit singles ‘Walking in Memphis’, ‘The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore’ and ‘One By One’. ‘Believe’ put Cher back on the musical map in 1998 while the album of the same name featured the hits ‘Strong Enough’ and ‘Dove L ‘Amore’. The HBO concert special of her world tour gained 11 Emmy nominations.
