Heroes Return To Victoria
Victoria, BC – An all new roster
of hockey Hall of Fame and
legendary hockey players return
to Victoria for the Oldtimers
Hockey Challenge Classic taking
place Sunday, March 19, 2006,
6:00 pm at the Save-On-Food
Memorial Center, featuring the
Legendary Hockey Heroes vs
Greater Victoria Police Hockey
Team.
Led by Hall of Fame members
Lanny McDonald, Gilbert
Perreault, Steve Shutt and Dale
Hawerchuk, the cast of players
includes Dave Williams, Gary
Nylund, Bob Bourne, Doug Bodger,
Glenn Anderson, Jimmy Mann, Ron
Hoggarth (Referee) and Richard
Brodeur (Goalie).
The Greater Victoria Police
Hockey Team is pleased to
welcome the Legendary Hockey
Heroes to Victoria. The
Oldtimers’ Hockey Challenge
Classic tour is family fun
entertainment appearing in over
60 cities from coast to coast in
Canada. It is the most
successful tour of its kind in
North America and raises money
for charity in each city it
visits. The portion of the funds
raised from the Victoria game
will go towards VICTORIA POLICE
ATHLETIC FOUNDATION.
The Oldtimers Hockey Challenge
Classic improves its lineup each
year and is proud to have
recently retired NHL players on
the roster. New addition
Stephane Richer and Dave Elliett
are excited to be on the tour.
The Oldtimers Challenge Classic
is designed to give fans and
players alike an opportunity to
celebrate a common joy of the
game while at the same time
giving much needed funds to
worthy organizations. Long time

Classic player/coach Bobby Hull
sees this tour as a unique event
that may never be duplicated.

Random Line-up Policy:
- ½ hour before on-sale, numbers
will be handed out to all
individuals waiting to purchase
tickets.
- 5 minutes before on-sale a
number will be drawn. That is
where the line-up will begin.
- Numbers preceding the number
drawn will line up sequentially.
- Any patrons arriving after the
draw will line up after the last
ticket handed out.

ROSTER
#30 Richard Brodeur
He recorded 16 Pro shut outs
during his 16 year NHL career
with Quebec Nordiques, New York
Islanders, Vancouver Canucks and
Hartford Whalers. His nickname
is KING RICHARD.
#6 Jimmy Mann
A first round draft choice
with the Winnipeg Jets in 1979.
Was one of the meanest glove
dropping brawlers in the NHL.
Went on to play in Quebec and
Pittsburgh as well.
#29 Gaston Gingras
Through 10 NHL seasons,
split between Montreal, Toronto
and St. Louis, he established
himself as one of the fastest
players in the league. The
smooth-skating defenseman was
part of the Stanley Cup champion
Montreal Canadiens in 1986.
#44 Michael Burgess
He has performed and acted
across Canada and throughout the
world. He has sung the National
Anthems in 7 languages at 2
Canada Cups and 87 and 91, the
NHL Allstar Game in Madison
Square Gardens in New York and
at the Spengler Cup at Davos
Switzerland. He was the first
person ever to sing the Canadian
Anthem live for a Maple Leafs
Game. He is a talented hockey
player.
#2 Gary Nylund
He played 10 years in the
NHL with Toronto, Chicago and
the Islanders. Nylund was the #1
draft choice of the Toronto
Maple Leafs in 1982. He was
named the best Junior Defenseman
at the World Championships. A
Firefighter in Delta, B.C. for
14 years.
#15 Tony Currie
His 8-year career in the NHL
was spent with St. Louis,
Vancouver and Hartford. Currie’s
best year in the NHL was in
1980-81 with the Blues when he
tallied 55 points in 60 games
while adding 16 points in the
Stanley Cup playoffs.
#14 Bob Bourne
With 14 NHL seasons under
his belt, he won the Bill
Masterton Award for dedication
and perseverance. He can proudly
claim to be part of four Stanley
Cup championships while playing
center for the New York
Islanders. He was a member of
the 1984 Canada Cup championship
team.
#22 Tiger Williams
A fan favorite wherever he
played during his 14-season NHL
career, whether it was Toronto,
Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles
or Hartford, ‘Tiger’ kicked butt
and took names, finishing his
career with a record 3.966
penalty minutes.
#37 Glenn Anderson
He was a key component of
the Edmonton Oilers’ dynasty in
the 80’s, helping bring five
Stanley Cup championships to
that franchise. After three
seasons in Toronto, he earned
another Cup win with the
Rangers. An Olympian and
multiple Canada Cup winner
#29 Igor Kravchuk
He was an Olympic champion
with the Soviet team in 1988 and
92, and collected silver in 1990
Winter Games. In 1990, he played
with the World
Champion Soviets as well. This
defenseman scored 53 goals and
150 assists in 498 NHL games,
dressing for Chicago, Edmonton,
St. Louis and Ottawa.
#38 Gary Leeman
A speedy right-winger who
play nearly 700 NHL games
between 1983 and 1997 with
Toronto, Calgary, Montreal,
Vancouver and St. Louis .He is
best known as a gritty scoring
machine with the Maple Leafs for
9 years with a 50 goal season to
his credit in 1089-90. He formed
the “Hound Line” with Wendel
Clark and Russ Courtnall while
helping the Leafs come within a
game of the semi-finals.
#11 Gilbert Perreault (Hall
of Fame)
He was the # 1 NHL draft
choice and the greatest scorer
in Buffalo Saber history. He
“centered” the famous Saber line
with Martin and Robert. Led the
NHL Allstars to the Canada Cup
in 1976. Classic Center Linesman
and a member of the Hockey Hall
of Fame.
#22 Steve Shutt (Hall of
Fame)
A first round draft choice
for Montreal, during his rookie
season in 1972-73, he and the
Canadiens won the Stanley Cup.
He blossomed into one of the
highest-scoring left wingers in
NHL history. In 9 of his 13 NHL
seasons, he scored 30 or more
goals. He helped Montreal win
four Consecutive Stanley Cup
championships between 76 and 79.
He won one Canada Cup and in
1993, he was elected to the
Hockey Hall of Fame.
#10 Dale Hawerchuk (Hall of
Fame)
In 1981-82 with the Winnipeg
Jets, he tallied 103 points and
was named the NHL’s rookie of
the year. In 10 of his 16
seasons in the NHL, he scored 30
or more goals in a season. He
finished his career with an
amazing 518 goals. He is a
two-time Canada Cup champion and
was inducted into the Hockey
Hall of Fame in 2001.
#19 Bryan Trottier (Hall of
Fame)
He had an amazing 18-season
career as one of the most
prolific forwards in the NHL,
helping the Islanders win 4
straight Stanley Cup
championships and later, 2 with
Pittsburgh. He has earned the
Art Ross Trophy, the Calder
Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy,
a Hart Trophy, the King Clancy
Trophy and had 4 NHL All-Star
selections. He represented
Canada in one Canada Cup. He was
made an Honoured Member of the
Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.
Ron Hoggarth - Referee
Officiated in the NHL for 23
years.
He refereed 1500 games, 3
Stanley Cups, 3 All-Star Games.
