VICTORIA – Summer will arrive a few days early when Tom Jones comes to Victoria to heat up the night with his incredible voice and his special guests – funk band Tower of Power.

In his native Wales, Tom Jones is known as "Jones the Voice." Today, he is one of the enduring personalities in the music entertainment business. His unique vocal power, ability and charismatic persona make him one of the most respected, admired and loved performers in modern popular music.

At the age of 64, Jones has managed to grow and sustain his career like few others in the pop music industry. His voice is recognised worldwide and his live performances are legendary. His delivery is as driven as it is seasoned, his persona bold, witty and charming. He is completely devoted to his craft and talent, and hopes only that the quickly changing faces of popular music allow him to be challenged as an artist. Throughout his career, Jones has proved to be that most unusual performer who not only has sustained his popularity over decades but also continues to grow as an artist.

Melding jazz, funk, rock and soul in a way no other group has, Tower of Power was a key part in Warner Brother Records’ dynasty in the 1970’s – storming up the charts with tunes such as “What Is Hip?” and “You’re Still a Young Man.” Their performances on records with the likes of Elton John, Smokey Robinson, Rod Stewart and Dionne Warwick, along with their own landmark albums, influenced a generation of musicians (including Sting, who has told Emilio Castillo, founder of the group, that he once had a “Tower of Power clone band” before he formed The Police).
