Victoria, BC - The Save-On-Foods
Memorial Centre and the Victoria
Salmon Kings, affiliate of the
Vancouver Canucks and the
Manitoba Moose, are proud to
announce a celebration of music
with the Victoria Symphony and
students of Victoria School
District 61. On February 25th
2007, a combination of band,
strings and choir pieces will
resonate through the
Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre at
the hands and voices of over
1,600 students.
Tania Miller, the Victoria
Symphony’s music director, will
conduct the historical
performance named The Rink
Cycle, which will be comprised
of students from schools
including, but not limited to,
Colquitz, Spectrum, Central,
Lambrick Park, Glanford, Cedar
Hill, Arbutus, Landsdowne,
Gordon Head, Mount Doug, Oak
Bay, and Reynolds. All of the
proceeds from the concert will
help fund music programs in
Victoria.
“I believe that it is important
to strongly support music
education in our schools,” said
Miller. “The impact that music
has on the lives of young people
and on their thinking and
creative skills is significant.
This concert is part of the
Victoria Symphony’s quest to
underline the value of music
education for everyone.”
