The swirling, darkly methodical madness of Godsmack returns to terrorize the pop music landscape with Godsmack IV. The group's millions of fans are sure to be pleased by this long-awaited return to form, which takes the band back to its heavy roots after a brief foray into acoustic territory. Riff-heavy, layered tunes like "Speak", "The Enemy" and "Shine Down" are as good as anything the band has done, taking Godsmack's Alice-in-Chains-meets-Pantera sound down new, grittier alleyways.

The Godsmack saga begins when the band formed in 1995 in Boston. The self-titled debut was picked up by Universal and released in 1998 and the group toured with Ozzfest and Black Sabbath. 2000's Awake was released to even more fanfare, and "I Stand Alone", Godsmack's song for The Scorpion King soundtrack, was the #1 single at Rock Radio for 14 weeks straight in 2002. Album #3, Faceless, was the #1 selling record in the U.S. the week it was released. Grammy nominations and an 11-month arena tour with Metallica followed, along with an acoustic EP that surprised and delighted fans, all leading up to the incredibly powerful Godsmack IV.
